What is built

Everything the IA regime requires

Every feature below is live. SEBI IA Regulations 2013, not a roadmap.

โœ“

Suitability gate

Advice to a client is blocked server-side until you have a current risk profile, a suitability finding, and a signed advisory agreement on file. The obligation is enforced, not optional.

โœ“

Advisory agreement and consent

IA-specific advisory agreement template under SEBI IA Regulations 2013, versioned per firm. Per-client consent recorded and auditable. A fresh version triggers re-consent before the next send.

โœ“

IA fee regime

Fixed fee (capped at Rs 1,51,000 per year per client) or AUA-based (capped at 2.5% per year). AUA is marked to market from live holdings. Hard cap enforced server-side: plans that breach the limit are rejected.

โœ“

Conflicts and disclosures

Firm-level conflicts-of-interest disclosure, surfaced on the client portal alongside every advice send. IA-specific advertisement code rules enforced on all AI-drafted content.

โœ“

Risk profiling and suitability records

SEBI risk-profiling questionnaire with annual re-assessment. Suitability findings documented per client, with rationale, objective, and time horizon. Coverage report shows which clients are current and which need action.

โœ“

Rule 204-2 style audit trail

Tamper-evident SHA-256 chained log of every advice send, suitability finding, and agreement consent. Five-year retention, CSV export, and the same engine that covers SEBI Reg 25 for Research Analysts.

โœ“

White-label client delivery

Send advice under your firm name over WhatsApp and email. Every delivery logged with a timestamp, channel, and linked suitability record.

โœ“

Client KYC and onboarding

PAN verification and Aadhaar e-sign built in. Client records are stored against your firm account. No KRA upload required from Aktai.

How the advice gate works

Three conditions. All three must hold. Enforced at the API.

1
Current risk profile
Risk profiling completed within the last year. Expired profiles block advice until re-assessed.
2
Suitability finding
A documented SUITABLE or SUITABLE_WITH_CAVEATS finding against the current profile. Stale or NOT_SUITABLE blocks the send.
3
Signed agreement
The client has accepted the active advisory agreement version. A republished agreement requires fresh consent.

Registered as a Research Analyst (INH)? The full RA product is also live.

Investment Adviser software FAQ

Is Aktai available for SEBI Investment Advisers today?

Yes. Aktai now supports SEBI-registered Investment Advisers under the SEBI Investment Adviser Regulations 2013. The platform handles suitability gating, advisory agreements, the IA fee regime, disclosures, and the audit trail. Book a demo to see it live.

How does the suitability gate work?

Before you can send advice to any client, the platform checks three things: a current risk profile (not expired), a suitability finding assessed against that profile (SUITABLE or SUITABLE_WITH_CAVEATS), and a signed advisory agreement. If any of these is missing, the send is blocked with a machine-readable reason. This is enforced at the API level, not just the UI.

How are IA fees capped?

SEBI caps IA fees at 2.5% of assets under advice per year (AUA-based mode) or Rs 1,51,000 per client per year (fixed mode). The platform enforces these caps server-side. A fee plan that breaches the cap is rejected at creation. AUA is computed from the client holdings you enter, marked to market via live prices.

Is this different from the Research Analyst product?

Yes. The IA product is a separate account type (registered as INA instead of INH). Model portfolios and stock recommendations, which carry sub-adviser risk, are not available to IA accounts. The IA account gets suitability records, an advisory agreement flow, IA-specific advertisement compliance checks, and the IA fee regime, none of which exist in the RA product.

Can I run both an RA and an IA practice on Aktai?

SEBI requires separate registrations for Research Analyst and Investment Adviser activities. Aktai mirrors this: an RA account is distinct from an IA account. If your firm holds both registrations, each would be a separate Aktai account. Contact [email protected] to discuss setup.

Not legal or compliance advice. SEBI regulations govern Investment Adviser obligations; consult your compliance officer for your specific requirements.
